“极简主义”和“纯粹抽象主义”在今日已然成为日常用语,但早在80年代,黄锐已经进入了纯粹抽象主义的空间探索,这种姿态的坚定性来自与古典智慧的结合。受钟阿城影响,1983年黄锐开始解读《道德经》的思维方式,继而又开始诠释《易经》的图像法则,这种任意而大胆的取用是非常直接的,既为概念、符号化的当代意识图解,又可以是回归古典的原始诠释。
"Minimalism" and "pure abstraction" have become buzzwords nowadays. However, as early as the 1980s, Huang Rui has embarked on the space exploration of pure abstraction with a resolute attitude stemming from the association with the classical wisdom. Influenced by Zhong Acheng, Huang Rui began to decode the way of thinking in Tao Te Ching since 1983, and then started to interpret the rules of images in I Ching. This arbitrary and bold expression was very direct, which can be seen as a conceptual and symbolic illustration of the contemporary consciousness, as well as an original interpretation that returns to the classics.
这些看似蒙德里安的几何式抽象其实是非常东方主义的,但不保守于东方主义。它们是黄锐介绍宏大宇宙空间一隅的个人语言。
These seemingly Mondrian geometric abstraction is actually very Orientalist, but they are not conservative in Orientalism. They serve as Huang Rui’s personal language to introduce a corner of the grand universe.
